The Everton defender is in the England squad for Euro 2016.

Everton defender John Stones could end up proving himself at the European Championships for England, Jamie Redknapp has told the Daily Mail.
Stones was named as part of the final 23-man squad for Euro 2016 on Tuesday as Roy Hodgson confirmed who he would be taking.

The centre back position is one that is causing fierce debate, with the Three Lions boss seemingly undecided on who should be his starting pair.
Stones has started the two friendly wins over Turkey and Australia, and impressed, but questions remain about him following a disappointing season with the Toffees.
Redknapp though believes that the young defender could end up proving himself at the tournament.
“We shouldn’t use the defenders as an excuse,” he told the Daily Mail.
“I’ve always been a big fan of Stones. He’s had a tough season but could well end up proving himself at this tournament.”

It will certainly be interesting to see what kind of tournament Stones has given the season he endured with Everton.
He came in for criticism for some of his performances across the campaign, with many questioning if he is good enough defensively to play at the highest level.
He has shown his quality in the two recent friendly wins though, and England will be hoping that he can have a strong tournament to prove his doubters wrong.
