The defender has admitted he is finding life on the bench hard to take.
Hull City defender Curtis Davies has admitted on his Kicca account that he is finding his spell out of the side tough to take.
Manager Steve Bruce has left the defender out of the last two games, with defenders Alex Bruce and Paul McShane being the preferred defensive duo with those two performances seeing the side earn a credible draw against Manchester City and a vital win against Aston Villa.
Those performances are unlikely to convince the manager to change his side for their crunch clash against QPR this weekend, especially given that they managed a clean sheet against Villa to boot, and the defender has admitted that he is not enjoying his time out of the side.
“I’ve found myself out of the side for the last two games and it’s a situation that doesn’t suit me well nor something I enjoy,” wrote Davies.
“I’m not one of those who can sit on the bench and just be happy, I like to earn my money. Not playing is not something I’m used to. Since 2011/12 season I’ve been a regular and must have played 150+ games in that time.”
Hard work needed
The defender also concedes that he can’t complain to manager Bruce given the side’s recent performances, instead saying that he will continue to work hard in training and take his chance when it comes.
Despite that positive outlook, he admits that sitting on the bench is the worst place to be for a player, saying that he is more nervous as a substitute than he is as a starter.
“After the last two results we’ve just had I can’t quite knock the managers door down,” added Davies.
“I’ve just got to take my chance if and when it comes. The bench is the worse place to be as you just want to be out there playing. You can’t affect anything just sitting there and I’m not one of those who can sit there and switch off. If anything, I’m more nervous on the bench.”
