The Southampton midfielder has been linked with a move to Everton alongside Ronald Koeman.

According to the Mirror, Everton are interested in a move for Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie.
The Blues are expected to complete a move for Southampton manager Ronald Koeman, having pushed hard for his signature over the last week.

Several Saints stars have already been linked with potentially joining him in moving to Goodison Park, and Clasie is reportedly among them.
Should the Dutchman move to Merseyside, he would likely be a replacement for Gareth Barry, who at 35 is very much coming towards the end of his career.
But would Clasie represent an upgrade on the veteran midfielder? We decided to compare their stats over this past season.
| Team | Won Tackle per Game | Interception Won per Game | Duel Won per Game | Poss Won Mid 3rd per Game | Ball Recoveries per Game | Accurate Passes per Game | Passing Accuracy | Touches per game | Appearances | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gareth Barry | Everton | 2.06 | 1.61 | 5.85 | 3.88 | 7.24 | 51.12 | 82% | 77.52 | 33 |
| Jordy Clasie | Southampton | 1.68 | 2.5 | 2.82 | 3.09 | 5.45 | 28.45 | 82% | 45.55 | 22 |
And it proved to be a comprehensive victory for Barry as he came out on top in six of the eight areas that we looked at.
On a per game basis the Everton star managed to win more tackles and more defensive duels, as well as winning the ball back more and posting more ball recoveries.

He also managed more accurate passes per game and enjoyed a better overall passing accuracy, as well as posting more touches per game.
It was not all bad news for Clasie though, as he did come out on top when it came to interceptions won per game and the two players shared the same passing accuracy.
Of course, Barry managed 11 more appearances across the season so perhaps the results would have been closer, but for now at least perhaps Koeman should reconsider any potential plans to bring Clasie to Goodison Park.
