The Gunners need a win to secure progress in the Champions League.
Hector Bellerin has told Arsenal’s official website that keeping possession will be key to them securing the win they need against Olympiacos.
The Gunners need a win against the Greek champions in the Champions League in midweek as they look to secure an unlikely progression into the last 16.
Arsene Wenger’s side must win by two goals, or win by a one-goal margin and score at least three times in order to qualify from Group F.
And Bellerin says that dominating possession will be key to them securing victory.
“We need to try to do that at Olympiacos by having possession and creating chances,” he told arsenal.com.
“I’m sure that the ball is going to go in and that we’re going to go home with a win. That’s very important, that the team is in the mood for it and that the team wants to get out of the group stages.”
“We know that, as the players who represent Arsenal Football Club, we need to be up for the job.”
While Arsenal are keen to secure their progression to the latter stages of the Champions League, there is a belief that not doing so could be good for the side.
With their current raft of injuries to big players, the squad is paper-thin and unlikely to be able to challenge on two fronts.
Exiting Europe could be a positive for their burgeoning Premier League title challenge, with the extra time that would come from not playing sure to be very welcome towards the end of the campaign.
It was certainly something that helped Liverpool as they came close to winning the title in 2012/13, and there is every chance it could help Arsenal this season as well.
