The 2015/16 season proved to be a hugely disappointing one for Everton, and also one of momentous change at the club as Farhad Moshiri became a major shareholder.
A disappointing year before had seen them finish 11th in the table, which, despite a good showing in the Europa League, was widely regarded as a poor campaign from them.
The summer transfer window did not offer much hope, with Gerard Deulofeu, Tom Cleverley and Ramiro Funes Mori the only major arrivals in a relatively quiet summer for the Toffees.
And a 2-2 draw start against newly promoted Watford did little to suggest that they were in for a strong season either.
That was how it proved to be, as Roberto Martinez’s side failed to pick up any momentum across the year to seriously push for the top half of the table.
Instead they finished 11th in the league once again, which ended up costing the Spaniard his job at Goodison Park.
