Is Moussa Sissoko worth the money for Tottenham if they sign him from Newcastle?

Moussa Sissoko has been linked with a deadline day switch to Tottenham Hotspur, but they are currently unable to come to an agreement with Newcastle United over a price.

SkySports report, via live transfer centre at 9.41am, that Newcastle would accept £30 million paid in instalments, while a later 10.32am update stated Spurs have cooled their interest over the price tag.

Pundits Stuart Pearce and Andy Hinchliffe were asked in the SkySports studio whether Sissoko is worth the money Newcastle are demanding, and leaned towards suggesting that Tottenham should pay up.

Here is a look at how the former Premier League stars responded.

Pearce said: “He’s a real talent and would bring something different to Tottenham. Yes (he is worth the money). Tottenham are two or three players away from having a tilt at the title.

“His head is already somewhere else I think, it is important for the player and both clubs that the deal goes over the line.”

Hinchcliffe was even more bullish, stating that a fee of £30 million was reasonable for the Newcastle United midfielder after his performance for France at Euro 2016.

He said: “He was outstnanding, how he played in the Euros. He could offer something different. In the current market player of that value the price is fair. Mike Ashley and Newcastle will hold out for the money they want for him.”

Unfortuantely for Newcastle, Tottenham appear to be the only club making enquiries for Sissoko at present, weakening the selling club’s hand in negotiations.

If Sissoko is to move, surely a compromise will be reached, but it remains to be seen if a middle ground which suits both parties exists.
