Ross McCormack signed for Aston Villa from Fulham last week in a huge deal worth up to £14 million.
McCormack went straight into the side to face Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend, but was unable to mark his debut with a goal as Villa were defeated 1-0.

SkySports pundit Tony Gale had a critical view of McCormack, speaking on Tuesday night’s Gillette Soccer Special on SkySports 1 at 7.30pm.
He said: “I don’t believe McCormack is a team player. To score the goals they need to I think they will need a lot more than just McCormack.”
Aston Villa’s Jordan Ayew in action with Watford’s Ben Watson
For Villa that should mean keeping hold of strike partner Jordan Ayew, who has been linked in the past week with a move to West Ham, by The Sun.
Gale’s view on McCormack however is a little harsh, because the striker has a strong track record of creating chances and providing assists.
| Team | Season | Goals | Key Passes | Assists | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ross McCormack | Fulham | 2015-2016 | 21 | 100 | 9 | 4,036 |
| Ross McCormack | Fulham | 2014-2015 | 17 | 80 | 9 | 3,848 |
Over the past two seasons for Fulham he has 18 assists and has created 180 chances in his Championship games.
With Ayew and Rudy Gestede likely to be able to take advantage of McCormack’s unselfishness, the Scotsman could very well use his platform at Villa to have his best season yet, and show why Gale is wrong in his assessment of his game.
