Charlie Nicholas is not so optimistic about Celtic’s chances.
SkySports pundit Charlie Nicholas says he believes Celtic will lose 2-1 against Anderlecht.
Celtic play the fixture in Belgium this evening and are desperate not to lose it.
The Scottish champions lost their opening group game 5-0 at home to Paris Saint-Germain and are under immediate pressure as a result.
Bayern Munich are also in their group which makes knockout round qualification extremely tough, so Celtic and Anderlecht are essentially playing for third – and Europa League qualification.
After finishing fourth in their group last season Celtic will want to show progress, and need a strong result against Anderlecht.
Former Celtic player Nicholas says he feels Brendan Rodgers’ side are up against it.
He said: “Anderlecht sacked their manager and had to come from behind at the weekend, but they are a dangerous side at home.
“I can see it being a feisty affair with both sides desperate for a result and, without evidence of Brendan Rodgers adapting his side, I have to go for Anderlecht to snatch this.”
Celtic are high on confidence after going 57 domestic games unbeaten and easing past rivals Rangers at the weekend in a 2-0 win at Ibrox.
Europe has proved more difficult for them under Brendan Rodgers, and this is the type of game they must not lose if they want their domestic record to win more respect around the continent.
