Dharmesh Sheth has shared that Bryan Gil could now leave Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window following the arrival of Arnaut Danjuma.

The Sky transfer expert shared that Antonio Conte was happy for Gil to stay during the summer transfer window and he could only depart if Spurs brought in a replacement.

In the end, they didn’t and the Spain international had to stay in north London, including starting two Premier League games since the return of domestic football following the World Cup break.

Despite the 21-year-old minutes increasing, he was back on the bench once Dejan Kulusevki returned to action, not forgetting that Richarlison is now also out of the treatment room.

Added in the out-of-form Son Heung-min and now the new arrival Danjuma, then Gil might be warming the bench a lot longer than he thinks.

Bearing that in mind, it might now be a case that the all-action forward heads for the exit door before next week’s deadline, as Dharmesh Sheth explained on The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (25/01/23 at 5:05 pm).

“There could potentially be departures at Tottenham Hotspur,” said Sheth. “Bryan Gil is an interesting one because I think they were listening and open to offers for him in the summer provided they could bring in a replacement.

“He wasn’t one of the four players Antonio Conte wanted out. I think that was Winks, Reguilon, Ndombele and Lo Celso. They weren’t part of his thinking, at all.

“Gil, he was happy for him to stay. If a deal worked for the club and him, then he would have let him go provided that Tottenham brought in a replacement. They didn’t. He stayed.

“He started to play a little of late, but now Danjuma has arrived. Danjuma, Kane, Son, Kulusevski and Richarlison. He’s going to go further down the pecking order with regard to team selection, so I think Tottenham might be open to offers for Bryan Gil. We know Spanish clubs would be very interested in signing him again until the end of the season.”

GIL SHOULD LEAVE

Out of all the senior forwards Antonio Conte can pick from, it does now seem that Gil will be behind them all.

Even someone like Son, who probably is fortunate that he is starting given his poor form, will continue to play ahead of the former Sevilla man because of what he has done in the past for the club.

Given that there is interest in Spain for Gil, then the £40k-a-week star (Spotrac) should push and look for that move before the window slams shut.
