Arsenal defender Rob Holding wants to complete a deadline day transfer to London rivals Crystal Palace having been made available.

Rob Holding is keen to join Crystal Palace before the transfer deadline having been made available by Arsenal.

That is according to Sky Sports with reporter Tom White breaking the news live on air this morning.

White noted that Palace are trying to sign Holding permanently rather than take him on loan for the season.

It’s suggested that Holding ruled out a move to Luton Town despite being made available by Arsenal head of the deadline.

A permanent move appeals to Holding over all other suitors, even with Spanish side Sevilla keen on a loan move.

Palace appears to be the choice for Holding and talks are now ongoing for him to leave Arsenal in the coming hours.

“Crystal Palace are in talks to sign Rob Holding on a permanent deal. Now, the player wants the move, we are told. He’s available for transfer, he did rule out a possible switch to Luton on Thursday, so did the Luton manager as well.”

“Sevilla on loan is an option for him though, that’s if if the Palace move doesn’t progress, however Rob Holding is keen on that move from Arsenal to Crystal Palace,” he added.

The time has come for Rob Holding to leave Arsenal

Holding has been with Arsenal for seven years now having joined from Bolton Wanderers for £2.5million in 2016.

Arsene Wenger saw big potential in Holding and he has proven himself to be a dependable player during his time in North London.

Holding has now racked up more than 150 appearances for Arsenal, regularly coming in from the cold to fill in for injuries.

The 27-year-old has always equipped himself well in those situation, leading to Paul Merson branding him ‘reliable’.

It now seems that Holding is ready to make a decision for the good of his career and chase more first-team football elsewhere.

Arsenal have the likes of William Saliba, Ben White, Jakub Kiwior, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Gabriel Magalhaes who can all play at centre back.

That means Holding is down the pecking order and moving on to play for Roy Hodgson at Palace seems like the best move for his career as he seeks regular playing time.
