Kaveh Solhekol has been speaking about Ralf Rangnick live on Sky Sports, as the German nears a move to Manchester United.
Interestingly, the Sky Sports reporter also mentioned Liverpool.
What’s the story?
Well, Solhekol’s comments should excite Manchester United fans, as he claims that Rangnick will have the Red Devils playing like Jürgen Klopp’s side.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Solhekol said: “Gegenpressing, high press, high tempo, high intensity, transitions. Now, they will have a distinct identity, and will play much more like Liverpool, much more like Chelsea.”
Manchester United fans know all about Klopp’s system, having only recently been on the receiving end of a 5-0 hammering at the hands of Liverpool.
The German’s gegenpressing style – which was inspired by Rangnick – involves pressing opponents high up the pitch and winning the ball in dangerous areas.
It also focuses heavily on counter attacks, with quick transitions from one box to another – Old Trafford will love to watch this style of play.

The 63-year-old – who is known as the Godfather of the Gegenpress – also helped to shape Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel’s philosophy.

For one man to have inspired some of the greatest managerial minds we’ve ever seen is some feat, and Manchester United fans should be buzzing.
Significantly, the German may step into a two-year consultancy role once his six-month stint in the dugout ends, which is a real coup for the Red Devils.
