Liverpool will take on fierce rivals United at Anfield in the league on Monday evening.

Mane, who joined the Reds from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer transfer window, is likely to start the match.

The 24-year-old winger has been in superb form so far this season and has established himself as a key figure in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Senegal international has scored three goals and created eight chances in six Premier League matches for the Reds so far this campaign.

Liverpool legend Thompson believes that Mane will be the key player in the match between the Reds and the Red Devils.

“I think the big one is going to be Mane, mainly because of his pace against Manchester United’s back line,” Thompson told Sky Sports while naming Mane as the key man. “He’s the one player really that I think can exploit them.”

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has also named Mane as the key player in the match between Liverpool and United.

“He’s definitely a match-winner on his day and seems to be in one of those streaks of form where he’s playing as good as anybody,” Le Tissier told Sky Sports while naming Mane as the key man.

“It is another good test for him though in terms of standing up in big matches for a big club, not that Southampton aren’t that!

“He’s stood up to the test well so far and certainly didn’t do too bad in the first game of the season against Arsenal, so I think he’s able to produce on the big stage.”
