Leon Osman and Ray Wilkins were guests on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily programme on Thursday May 4th, broadcast at 10:56 am, and both had their say on who Spurs’ most important player is.
Tottenham have enjoyed a superbly successful campaign thus far, and sit in second position in the Premier League table, four points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, with four games still remaining.
Mauricio Pochettino deserves great credit for the superb quality of squad that he has assembled during the three years that he has been in charge at White Hart Lane, for what has been a relatively small cost.
And Osman, who made 352 Premier League appearances, responded when asked who Spurs’ most important player is, during his appearance on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily programme:
“For me, Christian Eriksen. I just feel that he is a major part in everything they (Spurs) do going forward. Some of the assists he has provided for Alli and Kane this season have been exceptional. The positions he takes up effect teams greatly, and the big goals that he has scored, like the one against Crystal Palace recently, and if you take Eriksen out of the Tottenham team he would be the biggest miss.”

Wilkins, however, disagreed with Osman, opting instead for Tottenham’s leading goalscorer:
“Harry Kane. I just think that with Kaney, he is not only a goalscorer, but he is a super footballer, how he brings people into the game. The biggest thing is sticking the ball in the back of the net, it’s the hardest thing in football, and he does it with great aplomb.”
The Lilywhites are still well in contention to win their first league title since 1961, and if Eriksen and Kane can continue their fine run of form, they will have every chance of usurping Chelsea at the top of the table.
