Derby County won only their second league game of the season last night, following the suspension of manager Nigel Pearson.

Speaking live on Sky Sports Now this morning at 10:52 am, Sky Sports pundit Andy Hinchcliffe had his say on Nigel Pearson’s suspension from Derby County.
The Rams suspended Pearson after a meeting with club owner Mel Morris ahead of their game against Cardiff City last night.
Chris Powell temporarily took the reigns, and amazingly, Derby won their first league game since August 16th – a win that lifted them to 20th in the Championship table.
Hinchcliffe, who played for Manchester City, Everton and Sheffield Wednesday during a career that spanned 16 years, told Sky Sports how the Rams poor form has been such a shock this term:
Nigel Pearson
“It looks like there’s no way back for Nigel Pearson. At the start of the season we were looking at clubs who would do well in the Championship, and Derby, with the players they have, I thought they had a chance. I thought they had the best chance because Nigel had taken over, and it’s completely gone the other way. Whether he got on too well with the players we don’t know, but clearly his relationship with the owners has broken down.”
Something has clearly not been right at the iPro stadium this term, with the East Midlands outfit winning just two of their opening ten Championship outings, and losing half of them.
Nigel Pearson’s future is in doubt
Pearson has a history of controversial spats with his employers, most of which have been down to his bull-headed nature.
Whether or not there is any way back for the former Leicester City boss is unclear, but one thing is for sure, their win over Cardiff last night will not help his cause one little bit.
