Newcastle United have a Champions League-winning manager at the helm, so could Everton follow suit?
Sky Sports pundit Stuart Pearce was a guest on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily programme on Monday October 30th, and delivered his verdict on who might be named as the next Toffees boss, insisting that no manager in world football would think the Goodison Park hot-seat is beneath them.
The Blues are in all sots of trouble this season, and currently sit in 18th position in the Premier League table, after their woeful return of just eight points from 10 league outings thus far.
The club parted ways with Ronald Koeman this time last week, following their embarrassing display during their 5-2 home defeat to Arsenal, and they are now in search of a new manager.
Carlo Ancelotti is one of the names being linked with the Everton manager’s job, and Pearce explained why he is by no means too big a name for the role, when speaking live on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily programme, on October 30th at 10:09 am:
“If you’re inferring that Ancelotti is too big for Everton I would say Rafa Benitez is at Newcastle, he’s won the Champions League, and there might be a similar situation there. Everton have got a big profile, and I would say no manager in world football would look at Everton and say they are beneath them.”
The Italian has a CV that can be matched by few in the game, with three Champions League titles amongst his vast collection of trophies won as a manager.
Whether he can be tempted into taking over at Everton though, remains to be seen.
