Tottenham Hotspur have snapped up full back Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid, and fans are understandably excited.
The Spaniard spent last season on loan at Sevilla, and starred with three goals and five assists for the Europa League winners.
Reguilon can now offer Spurs a real attacking threat down the left flank, certainly more so than current Tottenham left back Ben Davies.
An injury means Reguilon won’t feature against Shkendija tonight, and it’s unclear just when he will be able to make his Tottenham debut.
Still, his displays for Sevilla will really excite Tottenham fans, and he has now been hailed by a former Spurs striker.
Terry Gibson is a Spanish football expert for Sky Sports, and played for Spurs in the early stages of his career, so it’s no surprise that he has had his say on Reguilon.
Gibson has told Tottenham’s official website that Reguilon was excellent defensively at Real Madrid, showing tenacity and the desire to tackle, which Jose Mourinho will no doubt love.

Gibson added that Reguilon was a ‘different player’ at Sevilla, as he was impressive going forward with great end product, whilst he is also ‘a winner’ having been brought through at Real Madrid – again, exactly what Mourinho is looking for at Spurs.
“Sergio Reguilon came into the Real Madrid team not last season, but the season before (2018/19) when Santiago Solari took over as manager. Marcelo is great going forward but not so great defensively, they wanted to shake things up and he brought this youngster in called Sergio Reguilon. He certainly improved them defensively, didn’t go forward as much as Marcelo, but that’s what Real Madrid wanted at that stage. He didn’t want Marcelo bursting up front and not getting back, he wanted a full-back. The first impression was that he certainly made them better defensively and he was solid, tenacious, didn’t mind putting his foot in and for a young player stepping into the first team at Real Madrid, he did excellently.”
“At Sevilla, we saw a different player, an attacking full-back. His instructions at Real Madrid were to be better defensively than Marcelo, which he did, but that meant we didn’t really know about him going forward. Sevilla played with two attacking full-backs, Reguilon and Jesus Navas, and both were really important players. He developed into a full-back who was excellent going forward, great quality in the final third and, at the same time, he had the energy to get back, so up and down the pitch for 90 minutes. He’s a competitor, a winner, fiercely determined and this is a player brought up at Real Madrid, so he has that background,” he added.
