Everton signed two new players during the January transfer window.
When writing his column for Sky Sports, Charlie Nicholas delivered his verdict on the Toffees’ January transfer business, and suggested that Ronald Koeman’s main target would have been to flex his muscles by showing who he trusts and who he doesn’t.

The Blues were fairly active throughout the last two transfer windows, but the majority of their fans wanted to see more arrivals, especially in the defensive and attacking departments.
Nicholas, though, explained why Everton’s performance in the January transfer window should be considered as a job well done, when writing his column for Sky Sports, whilst suggesting that the Dutchman’s main business will be done in the summer:

“Morgan Schneiderlin is a lovely signing – different class – whereas Ademola Lookman could be a star next season. This window’s been mainly about Ronald Koeman flexing his muscles and making his mind up about which players he wants to keep or let leave, before he does some proper business in the summer. They’re mid-table, they’re happy, there’s been no need for panic.”

Everton brought Morgan Schneiderlin and Ademola Lookman to Goodison Park during the month of January, and both of those players seem to be excellent signings for the present and the future.

The summer transfer window, however, will surely be an extremely busy one for Koeman, and only after then will it be fair to judge the Dutchman, as he looks to take his Everton side to new levels, and compete for a Champions League spot.
