Celtic are no closer to hiring an appointment for Neil Lennon, it seems.

Lennon quit his role as Hoops boss last month and John Kennedy has been in charge on an interim basis since.

With Rangers being crowned Premiership champions this past weekend, Celtic need to get their appointment spot-on or Steven Gerrard’s side could dominate Scottish football over the coming seasons.

There’s been a lot of people linked to the job at Parkhead and Tom Huddlestone, speaking to Sky Sports, believes that the ‘perfect’ candidate has just been made available.

Sheffield United are reportedly parting ways with Chris Wilder due to the Blades being rooted to the foot of the Premier League table.

The 53-year-old has done an incredible job at Bramall Lane but they look set to drop down into the Championship this time around, with United 12 points from safety.

And the former England midfielder believes that this summer could be an ideal time for Wilder and Celtic to unite.

He said to Sky Sports News this afternoon: “Obviously, the Celtic job is available in the summer, so I think that’d be a perfect job for him for a couple of years.

“He could try and do something like Brendan Rodgers has done – go up there, re-establish yourself in a different environment and come back to the English leagues as and when you feel a little bit more equipped.”
