Aston Villa signed Jonathan Kodjia from Bristol City and Albert Adomah from Middlesbrough in the summer transfer window.

Jonathan Kodjia - Bristol City

Former Middlesbrough and Everton winger Peter Beagrie has suggested on Skysports.com that Jonathan Kodjia is a good signing for Aston Villa.

Villa signed Kodjia from Championship rivals Bristol City in the summer transfer window for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £15 million.

Beagrie has explained why the 26-year-old forward will prove to be a good signing for the Villans, who got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

“It’s a hell of a lot of money,” Beagle wrote about Kodjia on Skysports.com. “You look at his recent history of 19 goals in 45 appearances last season and he will have to score more than that to justify his fee.

“He fills a gap that Villa thought would be taken by Abel Hernandez because they definitely wanted a player of his ilk. Kodjia is something a little bit different.

“He is physical and combative, a bit like Rudy Gestede, but he’s more mobile. That’s what they need because they have Ross McCormack and Jack Grealish to supply.”

Middlesbrough's Albert Adomah

Kodjia scored 19 goals and created 36 chances in 45 Championship appearances for City during the 2015-16 campaign.

The Ivory Coast international forward created one chance in four league matches for Lee Johnson’s side before his move to Villa in the summer transfer window.

Beagrie has also praised the Villans’ decision to recruit Albert Adomah from Premier League outfit Middlesbrough in the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old Ghana international winger scored six goals and created 58 chances in 41 Championship appearances for Middlesbrough last season.

Albert Adomah of Middlesbrough celebrates after the game

“I have always waxed lyrical about Adomah – I think he is absolutely tremendous,” Beagle wrote about Adomah on Skysports.com.

“In the modern Championship game, he’s a goal threat from wide positions and can break at pace.

“He’s brilliant in the division and when you throw Mile Jedinak into the mix, I think Villa have recruited really well.”

Villa will take on Nottingham Forest at Villa Park in the Championship this coming weekend.
