West Bromwich Albion fans will be hoping for further improvement in the Premier League this term.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson offered high praise for Baggies boss Tony Pulis, when writing his column for Sky Sports, and suggested that West Brom would be in relegation trouble if it weren’t for the experienced manager.

The Black Country outfit actually enjoyed a successful Premier League campaign last season, finishing up in a highly commendable 10th position, but the club’s fans still criticised Pulis for his lack of ambition both with his tactics and in the transfer market.

The Baggies have already spent heavily on Jay Rodriguez, but they will surely be looking to strengthen further still ahead of the last day of this month, when the transfer window slams shut.

Merson though, explained why he believes West Brom will once again be in and around mid-table come what May, when writing his column for Sky Sports:

“Tony Pulis is going to make them hard to beat, Tony is Tony! If you take him out of there, I think you drop them down five or so places. But with him there, they’re great at set plays, and they’re solid. Mid-table is about right for them again. “

Final finishing position prediction: 13th

Whilst Baggies fans will be delighted that their club is stable once again, they will surely be craving progression, and will expect to see more ambition on the pitch from their side this term.

West Brom kick-off their Premier League campaign at home to Bournemouth on Saturday at 15:00.
