Ipswich Town play host to Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow in the Championship.
David Prutton in action during his time with Wednesday
Sky Sports pundit David Prutton previewed the clash between the Tractor Boys and the Owls, when writing his regular prediction column for Sky Sports, predicting a tight encounter at Portman Road.
Wednesday have been in sensational form of late, winning their last five Championship outings, and have firmly cemented their position inside the top six.
The hosts, on the other hand, head into the game on the back of a mixed bag of results, winning three and losing two of their last five games.
And Prutton, who made 61 appearances for the South Yorkshire outfit, backed his former side to achieve the victory they so desperately need, when writing his regular prediction column for Sky Sports:
“Wednesday have been fantastic up front with Gary Hooper and Steven Fletcher and they have timed their form superbly. They now need to navigate this game and then a huge clash against Fulham on the final day. Ipswich can surprise you. They can look like they are floating into the summer and then beat Newcastle and remind you what kind of quality they have. But I think Wednesday will win given what’s at stake.”
Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal
Prediction: Ipswich Town 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday
Carlos Carvalhal’s men can secure their place inside the play-off spots with a victory over Mick McCarthy’s side, and that in itself should be all the motivation that the Owls need to leave East Anglia with all three points.
The former Republic of Ireland boss has always set his teams up to be incredibly tough to beat, however, so despite the fact that they have little more to play for than personal pride, Wednesday should expect anything but an easy ride at Portman Road tomorrow.
