Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic will face Barcelona at Celtic Park in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports that Celtic will lose to Barcelona at home in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Scottish Premiership giants Celtic will take on Spanish powerhouse Barcelona at Celtic Park in Group C.

The Bhoys are at the bottom of the group at the moment with just two points from four matches.

Barcelona are currently at the top of the standings with nine points from four games.

Luis Enrique’s side will head into the match in Glasgow on Wednesday as strong favourites.

Former Celtic forward Nicholas believes that Barca will pick up all three points from the encounter.

The former Scotland international, though, has backed Brendan Rodgers’s side to score twice against the Spanish giants.

“What approach does Brendan Rodgers go with?” Nicholas told Sky Sports. “Does he send his team out to go for it like they did against City?

“I can confirm it will be cold up here but Barcelona always seems to enjoy the atmosphere of these games and the fans love to see these special players, so I’m not at all convinced that the stars will fail to turn up.

“It sounds like Lionel Messi is going to make it because he sat out the weekend, which is obviously bad news for Celtic.

“Celtic’s instinct will be to go forward and that does play into the hands of Barcelona, who will be determined to finish top and avoid the pressure against Gladbach.

“They’re still the best team on the planet when the three amigos are playing, but they are still vulnerable at the back and I’m going for a goal-fest.”

A footnote added: “Charlie predicts: 2-3 and Suarez to score first – 55/1 with Sky Bet.”

Barcelona have a much better team than Celtic have, but the Hoops will have home advantage for Wednesday evening’s match.

Celtic Park is not an easy place for any opposition team to win, and the fans will create an electric atmosphere.

However, it is hard to see the Bhoys pick up all three points from the encounter, and it will come as a surprise if they are able to score twice against Barcelona.
