Former Everton and Manchester City winger Peter Beagrie has outlined on Skysports.com what he finds strange about Nottingham Forest.

Forest parted company with 19-year-old winger Oliver Burke and 30-year-old Jamie Ward in the summer transfer window.

While Scotland international Burke moved to RB Leipzig for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be about £13 million, Ward, who can play as a forward or as a winger, joined Burton Albion on a season-long loan deal.

Former Middlesbrough winger Beagrie has given his thoughts on Forest’s decision to part company with the two attacking players.

“We saw what he’s capable of against Brighton,” Beagrie wrote about Burke on Skysports.com. “He is strong and direct and when you look at the amount of money Red Bull Leipzig have paid for him, it’s been a meteoric rise.

“It’s amazing, but I am disappointed because I think he could have been a real feature to watch in the Championship. He’s a loss for people watching the division.”

“He’s a wide player who scores goals, and he has plenty of experience,” Beagrie wrote about Ward on Skysports.com.

“He will not have a problem settling in at Burton and it’s a strange one that Forest would allow Burke and Ward go in the same window.”

Burke scored four goals and created six chances in five Championship appearances for Forest this season before moving to Leipzig in the summer transfer window.

The Scotland international scored two goals and created 11 chances in 16 league matches for the Reds during the 2015-16 campaign.

Ward scored two goals and created 34 chances in 31 Championship matches for Forest last season.

Forest will take on Aston Villa away from home at Villa Park in the Championship this coming weekend.
