Tottenham Hotspur signed Moussa Sissoko on deadline day.

Former player and current pundit Charlie Nicholas feels that Tottenham Hotspur were mad to buy Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United in a deadline day deal worth £30 million, Sky Sports report.
The France international was heavily linked with a Newcastle exit throughout the summer and it appeared for all the world that a switch to Everton was on the cards… Until Spurs came in with a late bid.
Tottenham owner Daniel Levy is renowned for being a tough negotiator, yet after missing out on Saido Berahino 12 months ago, it appears he was not going to let that happen again with Sissoko.

The talented midfielder joins a host of fellow internationals at White Hart Lane, yet it is deal which has raised plenty of questions, with former player Charlie Nicholas suggesting it is one of madness.
“I think Spurs are mad spending £30m on Sissoko but they wanted some bodies in. Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t strengthened a lot and Daniel Levy, who is usually a tough negotiator, got a bit caught out with having to pay that amount of money,” Nicholas wrote for Sky Sports.
“I do wonder where Sissoko will fit in as well. Does Erik Lamela or Christian Eriksen miss out? Or does one of the central-midfielders get sacrificed? Because surely they haven’t spent £30m on a player who is going to sit on the bench.”

Tottenham have gradually been building up a squad capable of challenging for the title over the past few years, yet midfield seemingly was not really a great area for concern.
In Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen, Victor Wanyama, the club had plenty of options and more if you consider Son Heung-min and Vincent Janssen as further options.
But with Champions League football likely to have an impact, Mauricio Pochettino evidently felt it was necessary to add to his ranks and Sissoko no doubt has the ability to play at the highest level.
