Liverpool legend Phil Thompson said on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, September 17, 2016) that Ronald Koeman was the best signing that Everton made in the summer transfer window.
Everton appointed Koeman as their manager in the summer following the departure of Roberto Martinez just before the end of the 2015-16 season.
The Dutchman arrived at the Toffees after achieving a considerable amount of success at Premier League rivals Southampton.
The former Valencia and Feyenoord manager is doing a great job at Everton, who are second in the Premier League table at the moment.
Former Liverpool defender Thompson believes that Koeman was the best signing that Everton made in the summer.
“Koeman is the best signing that Everton made in the summer because he is a very good manager,” said Thompson on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, September 17, 2016).
Koeman is a very good manager, and Everton made a great decision to making him Martinez’s permanent successor.
It is too early in the season to get carried away, but the Toffees do look like a team who can challenge for a top-six finish in the Premier League this season.
The Merseyside outfit signed Maarten Stekelenburg, Idrissa Gueye and Ashley Williams among others in the summer transfer window.
