Pundit Matt Le Tissier has told Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday that he thinks West Bromwich Albion have made a great signing in winger Nacer Chadli.

With the Baggies seeking to add more creativity in the final third, manager Tony Pulis chose to break the club’s transfer record to lure Chadli from Tottenham.

The 27-year-old joined Spurs from Dutch side Twente back in the summer of 2013, and was snapped up to help Tottenham recover from the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.

Whilst he had some highs and lows at White Hart Lane, the Belgian did score 25 goals in 119 games, meaning he had quite an impressive goalscoring record for a player who wasn’t exactly first-choice under Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs.

Chadli – whose deal was worth a club record £13m according to The Guardian – made his West Brom debut against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, but couldn’t stop his side from losing 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium.

Long-term though, Chadli is an exciting signing for West Brom, and the transfer has been hailed by one Sky Sports pundit.

Ex-Southampton star Matt Le Tissier told Saturday’s edition of Soccer Saturday that after seeing the move go through, his first thought was that Chadli will improve West Bestom ‘two or three-fold’ based on his performances for Spurs.

Le Tissier noted that the fee was a good one for Tottenham given that Chadli had little future at the club, but thinks that the Baggies have made a good signing.

“I thought that was West Brom’s best signing out of the players they signed,” said Le Tissier. “I looked at that one and thought ‘he will improve them’ – he’ll improve them two or three-fold for me. It was a decent fee for Spurs as well, but I think West Brom made a good signing there.”
