Former Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas has predicted on Skysports.com that Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy will score for England against Slovakia on Sunday evening.

Nicholas has backed the Tottenham Hotspur and the Leicester City strikers to score in a 2-0 victory for England in the 2018 World Cup Group F qualifier (European) at Stadion Antona Malatinskeho in Trnava.

“It might not be pretty at first but I still expect England to be organised and I think they’ll get the job done, with Allardyce doing a better job in utilising Harry Kane and hopefully Jamie Vardy from the bench,” the former Arsenal and Celtic forward wrote on Skysports.com.

A footnote added: “Charlie predicts: 0-2 and Kane and Vardy both to score (50/1 with Sky Bet).”

England head coach Sam Allardyce has already named the starting lineup against Slovakia, as reported by The Guardian.

Tottenham striker Kane will start the match, while Leicester’s Vardy will not. The Spurs star has not been in good form so far this season and also had a disappointing 2016 European Championship campaign in France in the summer.

However, the 23-year-old is a very good striker, and if he gets a chance against Slovakia, he will take it.

Whether Vardy scores or not depends a lot on how much playing time he gets, if any. The 29-year-old Leicester striker has scored one goal and created three chances in three Premier League matches so far this season.
