Pundit David Prutton has told Sky Sports that he thinks Huddersfield Town will beat Aston Villa 2-1 in the Championship this evening.

Hosts Huddersfield suffered a dent in their bid to win automatic promotion to the Premier League on Saturday, as whilst second-placed Brighton lost 3-0 at Nottingham Forest, Huddersfield missed their chance to close the gap.

A 3-1 home defeat to league leaders Newcastle United leaves the Terriers six points off the top two, but they do have a game in hand on Brighton.

David Wagner will be keen to respond immediately with a win against Aston Villa, who have enjoyed a real upturn in form over the last ten days.

After picking up just one point in their first eight league games of 2017, Villa have now won three in a row without conceding, having beaten Derby County 1-0, Bristol City 2-0 and Rotherham United 2-0.

Steve Bruce’s men now look to be safe from relegation after some concern over their Championship status just weeks ago, and they will hope to make it four wins in a row tonight.

The reverse fixture earlier this season saw Huddersfield claim a 1-1 draw at Villa Park as Michael Hefele’s bizarre equaliser earned the Terriers a point, and Villa boss Bruce now returns to his former club in search of three points.

Ahead of the game, pundit David Prutton has told Sky Sports that he is backing Huddersfield to win the game 2-1, suggesting that they will be a ‘totally different proposition’ to Rotherham, the last team Villa beat.

“I felt for Huddersfield against Newcastle,” said Prutton. “A couple of big calls went against them, especially the penalty where Nahki Wells didn’t mean to clip Matt Ritchie. I fancy them to have too much pace and creativity for Villa, who will have a totally different proposition than they faced against Rotherham on Saturday,” he added.
