Charlie Nicholas has backed Aston Villa to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.
Former Celtic and Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas has predicted on Skysports.com that Aston Villa will finish in the top six of the Championship this season.
Villa are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
The Villans are 12th in the standings at the moment with 35 points from 25 matches.
Steve Bruce’s side are seven points behind Sheffield Wednesday, who are currently sixth in the table and occupy the final playoff spot.

Former Celtic and Arsenal forward Nicholas has stated that Villa will end the season in the playoffs.
While stating his prediction for this afternoon’s FA Cup third-round tie between Tottenham Hotspur and Villa at White Hart Lane on Skysports.com, Nicholas wrote: “I’ve got a strong feeling that Villa will make the play-offs and, while they might want to maintain momentum, it’s a tremendously punishing division and Bruce will give a couple of players opportunities as well.”
Nicholas has predicted Villa to lose 3-0 to Tottenham, and that could come true.

The Villans will struggle to clinch a playoff spot, but their chances of ending the season in the top six cannot be written off just yet.
There are a number of very good teams who will be aiming to sneak into the top six, but the Villa fans should be optimistic.
Villa will take on Wolverhampton Wanderers away from home in the Championship next weekend.
