Tottenham Hotspur are the only team in the top seven of the Premier League who are still yet to strengthen this summer.
Sky Sports pundit Phil Thompson highlighted one major weakness of the Spurs squad, as they head into the new Premier League campaign, when writing his column for Sky Sports.
Tottenham enjoyed a successful season in the league last term, finishing in second position, but the club’s fans are growing increasingly more frustrated with the board, following a lack of signings this summer, whilst all of their rivals are drastically strengthening their squads.
The Lilywhites already have one of the smallest squads in the top seven of the Premier League, and failing to strengthen this summer could prove to be really costly for them.
And when writing his column for Sky Sports, Thompson highlighted how it must be a concern for Mauricio Pochettino heading into the new season with such a lack of options in the attacking midfield area:
“It’s difficult to pick a weakness. However, if the three behind Kane do get injured then the goals could dry up a bit. Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier and Harry Winks aren’t going to get many goals. If the three behind the supporting three don’t provide then Kane is carrying a lot of the burden.”
There is still just over a week until the new season in the top flight kicks off, and if the north London outfit are to enjoy another successful campaign, they will surely have to bring in at least two new faces of the very highest quality.
Spurs will be playing all of their home games at Wembley Stadium this season, so the injection of fresh faces with high energy levels will be of paramount importance to Tottenham’s chances of success.
