Charlie Nicholas has had his say on Arsenal’s late deals.

Former player and now pundit Charlie Nicholas believes Arsenal have successfully strengthened this summer and have come out with a squad capable of challenging for the title, Sky Sports report.
The Gunners haven’t made the best start to the current Premier League season, losing their first game of the season 4-3 to Liverpool and subsequently picking up just four points from three matches.
Calls for a new striker and defender could not have been any louder, and boss Arsene Wenger finally responded by bringing in Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi ahead of the transfer deadline.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Nicholas stated that he believes Arsenal’s transfer business has been a success and adds that they have the squad to challenge both Manchester clubs for the title.
“I think the team that needed to do business more than anyone else was Arsenal and Arsene Wenger has successfully identified the two areas, positions I’ve been on about for five years, and signed a centre-back and a striker,” Nicholas wrote.
“Unfortunately, they now start five points behind but it’s time for Arsenal fans to move on and be positive again because they’ve come out this transfer window with a squad capable of challenging the Manchester clubs.”
Arsenal’s opening day defeat to Liverpool highlighted their defensive woes, yet it is worth remembering that Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista were all missing that day.
With the likes of Olivier Giroud, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez back firing plus the addition of Lucas Perez, the Gunners have arguably their best squad in years and the potential for a successful campaign.
