Former Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United defender Stuart Pearce said on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning (broadcast from 10am, September 19, 2016) that Liverpool are in a false position in the Premier League table.

Liverpool are sixth in the league table at the moment with 10 points from five matches.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are five points behind leaders Manchester City, and are level on points with Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Merseyside outfit are also a point above Manchester United, who are one of the favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

Former City and Forest manager Pearce believes that Liverpool should be higher up the standings.

“They (Liverpool) are in a false position in the league as well,” said Pearce on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning (broadcast from 10am, September 19, 2016).

“They are a couple of points below where they should be in the league, purely, a) for the Burnley game and the fact that they have played four away and one at home now.”

Pearce does make a good point, and one that Liverpool fans will probably be wary of.

The Reds have already played some of the bigger teams in the league, such as Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

Liverpool have also faced defending English champions Leicester City already this season.

Klopp’s team will take on Derby County away from home at the iPro Stadium in the third round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.
