Tottenham Hotspur transfers can’t be done without any drama, can they!?
And that is proving to be the case with Genoa defender, Radu Dragusin, with sources telling HITC Football that Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Bayern Munich to the 21-year-old’s signature despite Bayern Munich’s late attempt to hijack the deal.
If that expected transfer is signed, sealed and delivered, then Gary Rowett thinks Radu Dragusin will prove to be a ‘really good fit’ for Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports.
A versatile defender, who has the obvious quality Ange Postecoglou wants, and that’s pace, is a highly-rated talent on the European stage.
Former Millwall boss Gary Rowett added how Radu Dragusinis a ‘very aggressive’ and ‘mobile’ defender who can also operate in a back three.
That’s a tactic or formation Ange Postecoglou hasn’t used yet, but now that he is adding another centre-back to his locker, it’s certainly something he can try if he wishes.
This is a much-needed signing for Tottenham and he is a player that Gary Rowett hugely admires.
Radu Dragusin at Tottenham
“Yes, but it’s Spurs, isn’t it?! They never seem to want to pay the money and, instead, want a clever deal, which is how they work under Daniel Levy,” said Rowett.
“What I would say is that Dragusin is a player who I can see being a really good fit at Spurs. He is very, very aggressive. Very mobile. He can play in a back three which he is currently playing in at Genoa. He would fit the back two. But the pacy back two that Tottenham want to employ.
“Playing on the halfway line and playing really high up the pitch. You need mobility. I think he would certainly allow them to not have to play Emerson Royal or Ben Davies there because it seems they don’t want to play Eric Dier, regardless of how good of a footballer he is.”

Tottenham’s recruitment under Ange Postecoglou
If you include the arrival of Timo Werner and this expected deal for Dragusin, then this is Spurs doing what they don’t normally do, and that’s being efficient in the transfer market.
This isn’t a case of the Spurs boss needing someone to come into the XI, when everyone is fit, he and the fans are pretty happy with what they have got.
But improving his squad depth because that has clearly been lacking throughout the season.
Now, Tottenham are sitting fifth in the Premier League table and they will believe that they can finish in the top four this season.
Well, early January transfer business, added with the return of players from injury, just increases the chances of that happening.
