Stuart Pearce grades Tottenham Hotspur’s performance against Crystal Palace in the Premier League at the weekend as C+.
Former Newcastle United and West Ham United defender Stuart Pearce has graded Tottenham Hotspur’s performance against Crystal Palace as C+ on Skysports.com.
Tottenham got the better of London rivals Palace 1-0 at home in the Premier League at the weekend.
Victor Wanyama’s goal in the 82nd minute proved to be the difference between the two sides at White Hart Lane in North London on Saturday afternoon.
Former Nottingham Forest manager Pearce was not too impressed with Tottenham’s performance, stating that he thought that Mauricio Pochettino’s side would win more convincing.
“I expected more from Spurs and for them to win this more comfortably than they did,” the Englishman told Sky Sports while giving Tottenham’s performance C+.
“However, they got the win with a clean sheet, which is a real bonus for Mauricio Pochettino and his side.”
Tottenham were the better side than Palace and deserved to win, although Spurs’ performance could have been better.
However, C+ seems a bit harsh, especially as Pearce has given Arsenal’s performance B.
The Gunners actually failed to win in the Premier League on Saturday evening, playing out a goalless draw with defending champions Leicester City away from home at the King Power Stadium.
“It’s a similar story for Arsenal,” Pearce told Sky Sports while giving Arsenal B. “They’ve gone to the champions and got a point and a clean sheet. They have to be happy with that.
“I don’t see it being the end of the world for Arsene Wenger and his side. Wenger will be disappointed with some aspects of his side’s performance but he will be delighted his side have opened their account.”
Winning against Leicester at the King Power Stadium was not going to be easy, but Arsenal could have done much better than they did.
