Jamie Carragher believes Everton’s Romelu Lukaku needs to improve his work-rate if he is to reach the heights of Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino.
Reds legend and current Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher compared Roberto Firmino with Everton star Romelu Lukaku when writing his column for the Daily Mail.
Firmino has been an integral part of Liverpool’s impressive campaign so far this season, contributing with five goals and three assists in 12 league outings for his club.

On paper, Lukaku has been equally, if not more, impressive, with seven goals and three assists in 12 Premier League appearances.
Carragher, however, highlighted one key area where the Brazilian is streets ahead of the Belgium international, when writing his column for the Daily Mail:
“Lukaku has certainly got talent, but if he is to fulfil Koeman’s prediction then there is one thing he has to do more than anything else – run. Consider this: so far this season, he has been on the pitch for 1,017 minutes. Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino has played 1,067 minutes. In that time, Firmino has run 23.6 miles further than Lukaku and made 490 more high intensity sprints. The difference is colossal.”

The 23-year-old’s form has certainly dipped over this past month, and his performances have been bereft of any kind of intensity.
If he does want to leave Everton at the end of the season, he would be better served in working his socks off and showing any potential suitors what he is truly capable of.
One wonders how Klopp would transform the Belgian, if he had him amongst his ranks, or if he would quite simply deem him to be surplus to requirements.
Firmino has been a revelation since the German took over as Liverpool boss last year, and his performances are medicine of what you can achieve when you combine an incredibly hard work-ethic with the immense talent that he undoubtedly possesses.
