Huddersfield manager David Wagner celebrates
Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman was speaking live on this morning at 10:41 am, and offered high praise for the work being done by David Wagner at Huddersfield Town.
The Terriers currently sit comfortably at the top of the Championship table, and two points clear ahead of Norwich City in second after eight wins and a draw rom their opening 11 league outings.
Goodman told Sky Sports how impressed he has been with Wagner thus far, and identified a particular part of his philosophy that he believes he has learnt from Klopp:
Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner
“What David Wagner has done there is a phenomenal thing really. He has learnt a lot from Jürgen Klopp – you can see how Huddersfield play and how they go about their job with the high press. They are winning games narrowly, but they’re winning. At whatever level, it’s having the ability to get the job done, and they’re certainly showing the attributes needed to do that.”
Following the international break, Wagner’s men face a succession of very winnable games, with home matches against Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County and Birmingham City and away games at Preston North-End and Fulham all coming in their next five outings.

After that run of matches, Huddersfield would have played 16 games, and then might be a better time to judge them, and assess their chances of promotion in a more realistic manner.
Whatever happens at the end of the season, one thing that cannot be argued is that Wagner has evolved Huddersfield as a football club, and for that reason alone, he deserves high acclaim.
