Darren Bent has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s League Cup match with Chelsea, that he thinks Josh King would be the ‘perfect signing’ for his former side.

King has been heavily linked with Tottenham throughout the summer, but Jose Mourinho’s side have not been able to do a deal for the Bournemouth front-man.

The Daily Mail suggest that King’s asking price has actually been slashed to just £10 million.

And Bent feels that King’s ability to play right across the front line makes him look like an ideal capture for Tottenham.

“Someone like a Josh King would be a perfect signing because he can play left, right or down the middle,” Bent said.

“But it [the lack of a second striker] has been an issue for a while.”

The chances of King signing for Tottenham now look extremely limited, despite Bent’s hopes.

Football London report that Spurs are chasing a deal for Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius, with King seemingly being overlooked.

King may now have to find another suitor if he is to find a route out of Bournemouth, otherwise he could be destined to spend the season playing in the Championship.
