Newcastle United are expected to be heavily involved in the transfer market before the window slams shut on Wednesday.

Leon Osman was a guest on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily programme on Monday January 29th, and highlighted the need for the Magpies to do some business before the transfer window slams shut on Wednesday.
Newcastle are a club currently in the midst of uncertainty, with Mike Ashley making no secret of his desire to sell up, but his valuation of the club is proving to be an obstacle for any potential new buyers.
Rafa Benitez has also been quite vocal with regards for the need to strengthen his options at St James’ Park before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

The Toon currently sit in 15th position in the Premier League table, just one point clear of the drop zone, and their top flight status is a long way away from being secured, with 14 league games still to be played.
Osman highlighted the need for the Magpies to strengthen their squad, during a guest appearance on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily programme, admitting his surprise that they haven’t yet done so:

“Newcastle certainly need to do some business. Time is running out for them to bring in reinforcements to help them stay in the Premier League. Coming into a period where Benitez has been vocal saying his team need to strengthen and that still hasn’t materialised. Considering how he has voiced his opinion, I think they have not yet delivered.”
Whether Newcastle do strengthen their squad further before the transfer window closes remains to be seen, but if they fail to add some fresh faces, they could be in for an extremely tough season ahead of them.
