Michael Bridge says ‘a number of Premier League clubs’ will be on ‘alert’ as Tottenham Hotspur put Djed Spence up for sale.

The transfer expert shared that Tottenham would ‘consider a transfer for Djed Spence’ if a team puts an ‘acceptable offer’ on the table, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (08/08/23 at 5:20 pm).

Last summer, the all-action right-back was flying high because he had just helped Nottingham Forest earn promotion to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old was on-loan at the City Ground from Middlesbrough, before he returned to his parent club and then Spurs snapped him up.

But, inside six months, he was being loaned out to Ligue 1 side, Rennes, where he had a number of good moments.

And now, he is heading for the exit door, with not a single Spurs start to his name.

“This could alert a number of Premier League clubs,” said Bridge. “He was highly thought of last season. Spurs won the race to sign him. He was on-loan at Nottingham Forest, the season before, they signed him after a brilliant loan from Boro.

“It didn’t really work out for him under Antonio Conte, then he went out on loan to Rennes.

“My understanding is that Spurs would consider a transfer for him, and if they receive an acceptable offer.”

Spence harshly treated

Players could probably accept being sold if they haven’t played well or they don’t suit a certain manager’s system.

But that hasn’t been the case with Spence, he just hasn’t been given a fair crack.

Before he walked into the club, Antonio Conte was sending out signals that he didn’t want him and he showed it by bringing him on for a minute here and there, before loaning him out.
