Kaveh Solhekol has told Sky Sports News that Daniel Ek remains committed to buying Arsenal after their Europa League exit last night.
Arsenal crashed out of Europe, after failing to beat Villarreal at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.
In their biggest game of the season, Arsenal produced one of their most disappointing performances in recent years.
It means that the Gunners will now face the prospect of having no European football on offer for their fans for the first time in 25 years.
Arsenal currently sit in ninth place in the Premier League table, and it would take a dramatic turnaround in fortunes if they were to climb into the European qualification spots.
That could have knocked some value off the club, but Ek apparently still intends to bid.
And the only reason the billionaire hasn’t submitted an offer sooner is because he didn’t want to cause any off the field distractions ahead of Arsenal’s Europa League game.
“The Spotify owner Daniel Ek is totally committed to trying to buy Arsenal despite what happened at the Emirates Stadium last night,” the reporter said, in an important update.

“Of course, Arsenal’s failure to beat Villarreal means they are unlikely to be playing in Europe next season.
“But Ek is still set to make an opening bid. He didn’t want to make that offer before last night’s game because he didn’t want to cause a distraction as far as Mikel Arteta and the players are concerned.
“If he does bid £1.8 billion it could be argued that would be a great offer considering Arsenal are set to miss out on European football.
“Out of respect for Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke, Ek will not be commenting on the bid but last night doesn’t change anything. He wants to be Arsenal and he has the funds in place to do a deal.”
If a takeover did go through it would at least give Arsenal supporters something to celebrate after what has been a dismal season.
The sense of frustration is just continuously rising around the Emirates Stadium.
But there is a widespread feeling among Arsenal fans that the future would be much brighter if Ek was in charge.
