Liverpool could ramp up their pursuit of Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch ahead of the transfer deadline later this week.

There is a feeling that Liverpool will be pushing to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich ahead of the transfer deadline.

That is according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who has taken to Twitter to discuss Gravenberch’s future.

Plettenberg claims that he has heard of Liverpool potentially making a ‘push’ to sign Gravenberch ‘in the next days’.

Plettenberg adds that Bayern are still waiting for concrete offers for Gravenberch after plenty of rumours this summer.

The Dutchman isn’t happy at Bayern given that he just isn’t playing under Thomas Tuchel and he wants to leave.

Liverpool appear to be a strong candidate for Gravenberch’s signature with Jurgen Klopp and co still chasing another midfield addition.

Manchester United cannot be ruled out though with Erik ten Hag a big fan of the midfielder from their time together at Ajax.

The Mirror reported last week that both Liverpool and United have ‘tabled contact offers’ to Gravenberch in the hope of luring him to England.

The transfer deadline is fast approaching though and Liverpool could now ramp up their pursuit in the hope of a deal.

Ryan Gravenberch a surprise target for Liverpool right now

The Gravenberch rumours made complete sense earlier this summer.

Liverpool were seeking new energy in midfield and Gravenberch didn’t play nearly as much at Bayern as expected last season.

A move to Anfield could have given Gravenberch a new lease of life just one year on from leaving Ajax.

Is Gravenberch still the man for Liverpool though?

Yes, his rangy style and box-to-box qualities are something Liverpool don’t quite have in Jurgen Klopp’s squad right now.

Yet it feels like Liverpool actually need another natural holding midfield player to compete with Wataru Endo moving forward.

Gravenberch could play there but it just doesn’t feel like the best use of his abilities right now.

Hailed as a ‘wonderful player’ by Ruud Gullit, Gravenberch is a tall presence and is at his best when allowed to get forward and impact the game in the final third.

Liverpool may well think that Gravenberch just offers something different to Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister but signing him after so many holding midfield links would be curious.
