Dharmesh Sheth told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports that Tottenham will have to pay more than what Liverpool paid for Diogo Jota if they want to sign Adama Traore from Wolves
Last summer, Liverpool made a late and surprising move for Jota, who was snapped up by the then-Premier League champions for £45 million, as reported by Sky Sports.
And now it seems as though the Midlands club could lose another one of their key assists.
Recent rumours have suggested that Nuno Espirito Santo wants to re-unite with the bulldozing goal-shy attacker – he was in action against Spurs over the weekend.
Whilst Wolves allowed Jota to leave last summer, it was suggested by the Sky reporter that they want Traore to stay on board and they have offered him a new deal.
“It is thought that they would want more than what they received from Liverpool for Diogo Jota, which was a deal worth £45 million,” said Sheth.
“Traore has got two years left on his Wolves contract. There is an improved contract on the table.
“Discussions over a new contract started as long as 10 months ago. Wolves do want to keep him.
“But if they are to sell Traore then I think it’s going to need a lot more than a loan with an option to buy for £40 million to even bring them to the table.”
Traore has two years left on his contract and Wolves have to act quickly in either penning his long-term future down or selling him off.
It wasn’t going to take long before Nuno started fishing in his old pond for some talent he previously coached and, at this moment, he’s trying to pull out one of the heavier fish.
Towards the back end of Nuno’s reign at Molineux, he labelled Traore as ‘special’, as he told the Express and Star.
Those ‘special’ qualities are needed in North London because whist his end product continues to be questioned, he still frightens the life out of the opposition.
