Kevin Campbell has told the Highbury Squad Podcast that Arsenal need to sign Nabil Fekir, who Liverpool were once ‘hell-bent’ on signing.

The Arsenal legend and Sky Sports pundit thinks Fekir would be an ‘absolute handful’ because he is someone who can ‘beat his man’.

Fekir is currently dodgy defenders in Spain with Real Betis. And the £22 million star’s name has been linked with Arsenal, according to Estadio Deportivo.

Campbell wants Fekir dancing his way past defenders at the Emirates, as he urged Arsenal to sign the trickster this summer.

“His resurgence wasn’t just this season,” said Campbell. “He was excellent last season as well. No, he’s not injury-prone. He has played at Real Betis, most of the games.

“His problem was when he went to Liverpool, something came up about his knee. And he was going for, I think £55 million with add-ons to Liverpool and they were hell-bent on getting him in.

“He can score goals. He can create. He’s an absolute handful. I think he could be a really, really good addition to our team because he’s another leftie, as well.

“He is someone who can beat his man. That’s huge in football. That creates so much pressure on the defence.”

It could have been a lot different for Fekir had he signed for Liverpool in 2018.

The 27-year-old failed a medical on Merseyside, which doesn’t bode well when clubs are deciding to push for his signature, but 30 appearances in all competitions this season suggests that there is nothing to worry about on the injury front.

Either way, with Martin Odegaard on-loan from Real Madrid, if he isn’t snapped up on a permanent basis then Arsenal will need to go fishing for some creative talent if they are to put these disastrous times behind them.
