Charlie Nicholas has stated on Skysports.com that West Ham United striker Sebastien Haller knows that he is fighting for his place in the team.

The former Celtic and Arsenal forward made the comments while analysing how West Ham are starting to improve and while reflecting on their result against Burnley.

Nicholas wrote on Skysports.com: “Michail Antonio missed chances, but West Ham are creating chances. That is the difference.

“They are starting to do that, whereby if they put one or two away then they will win even more games.

“The players are now content with what David Moyes is asking them, and Sebastian Haller all of a sudden knows he is fighting for his place and needs to get his finger out.”

Stats

Haller joined West Ham from German club Eintracht Frankfurt for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £45 million.

According to WhoScored, the 26-year-old striker has made 24 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Hammers so far this season, scoring seven goals and providing one assist in the process.

Relegation worries

West Ham are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

David Moyes’s side are as low as 16th in the Premier League table with 31 points from 34 matches, just three points above the bottom three.

West Ham will take on Norwich City away from home at Carrow Road in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

With the Canaries also in danger of going down, the game will have huge significance on the relegation battle.
