Paul Merson has suggested in The Daily Star that Arsenal or Everton would not sign Ryan Fraser.

The former Arsenal star, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has said that Arsenal have enough wingers and do not need Fraser.

Merson has added that he would pick Theo Walcott ahead of the Bournemouth winger to play for Everton.

The Scotland international winger is out of contract at the Cherries at the end of the month, and manager Eddie Howe has said that the 26-year-old will leave the Premier League club on a free transfer thereafter, as quoted on talkSPORT.

According to talkSPORT in June, Everton are the frontrunners for the former Aberdeen star, while The Daily Mail claimed in May that Arsenal are confident of securing the services of the winger on a free transfer this summer.

Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “Everyone’s looking for free transfers and loans because their finances are taking a hit but if you want that kind of money you’ve got to be a bit special.

“Tottenham are well stocked for wingers. So are Arsenal. Liverpool and Manchester City aren’t going to take him. Chelsea? I can’t see it.

“And if you look a little below, who’s left? Everton? They have a few players who can play on the left and if it’s between him and Theo Walcott on the right I know who I’d want in my team and it isn’t Ryan Fraser.

“He feels like a player who doesn’t fit in a lot of teams because he’s an old-school winger and not many clubs play with one of those any more.”

Stats

According to WhoScored, Fraser has scored one goal and provided four assists in 28 Premier League games for Bournemouth so far this season, while during the 2018-19 campaign, the Scotland international winger scored seven goals and provided 14 assists in 38 league fixtures for the Cherries.
