Kris Boyd has claimed in The Scottish Sun that Mohamed Elyounoussi is proof that not all Celtic players are bothered about 10 in a row.
The former Rangers striker has criticised Elyounoussi for checking his phone after his substitution during Celtic’s 4-1 defeat to Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
The 26-year-old winger, who returned to the Hoops on loan from Southampton in the summer of 2020 after spending last season on loan at Celtic Park, said that he was checking the score from the AC Milan game, as quoted in The Scottish Sun.
Boyd, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has strongly criticised the Norway international, who can also operate as a forward, and has claimed that he is proof that not all players at Celtic are bothered about making history and winning the Scottish Premiership title for the 10th season in a row.
The Scotsman wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Moi Elyounoussi is another who arrived here from the English Premier League with a big reputation. There have been fleeting glimpses of the Norwegian’s talent but regardless of what he goes on to achieve he will always be remembered more for Mobilephonegate.
“Look, I can understand him being unhappy at getting the hook on Thursday night. We have all been there. But to sit in the stand using his phone shows a complete lack of respect for his manager and his team-mates.
“It also dispelled the myth about every member of the Celtic squad being desperate to win 10-in-a-row and be a part of history. Yes, it means a lot to some but there are others who couldn’t care less — including Elyounoussi.”

Moving on
Celtic were very disappointing on Thursday evening and Elyounoussi’s performance left much to be desired, but the Hoops now have to look forward.
The Bhoys are going through a bad spell at the moment, but they have very good players and a very experienced manager in Neil Lennon to get things right.
