Danny Mills raved about Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich on Sky Sports News (11:53am, September 20, 2020).

The former Leeds star spoke highly of Klich following the Whites’ win against Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday, and believes that the midfielder has been “a revelation” at the West Yorkshire club under head coach Marcelo Bielsa.

Mills said about Klich on Sky Sports News (11:53am, September 20, 2020): “When Bielsa came to Elland Road, he was surplus to requirements.

“He was about to get shown the door. And then Bielsa said, ‘No, I like this player’. I think he’s played all but one game since Bielsa’s been there. He’s been sensational.

“You look at his goal (against Liverpool) last week, the technique that he had, I think the technique is on par with Salah. The finish isn’t quite the same because it doesn’t go in the top corner.

“But to bring it down with the touch that he had and then score, and then the calm penalty yesterday, he’s been a revelation at Leeds.”

Important player for Leeds United

Klich joined Leeds from FC Twente in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Yorkshire Evening Post to be worth £1.5 million.

Much was expected of the Poland international when he arrived at Elland Road, but the midfielder failed to make an immediate impact at the club in the Championship and was sent out on loan to FC Utrecht for the second half of the 2017-18 season.

However, since Bielsa was appointed the Leeds head coach in the summer of 2018, the 30-year-old has been superb for the Whites and has established himself as an important player for the team.

According to WhoScored, Klich scored 10 goals and provided nine assists in 48 Championship matches during the 2018-19 campaign, while last season, the midfielder scored six goals and provided five assists in the Championship.
