Stephen Warnock has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Harvey Elliott leaving Liverpool for Blackburn Rovers on loan on transfer deadline day.

As anounced on Liverpool’s official website this evening, Elliott has agreed to join Championship club Blackburn on a season-long loan deal from the defending Premier League champions.

Former Liverpool and Blackburn defender Warnock, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that it is a good move for the 17-year-old winger.

Sensible decision

Elliott is only 17 years of age, and although he has played for the Liverpool first team, it was going to be hard for the former Fulham winger to feature regularly for the Reds this season.

Blackburn are an ambitious club, and under manager Tony Mowbray, they would be aiming to finish in the Championship playoffs.

The Liverpool-owned winger will be playing in a very competitive league, and that could see him develop and mature as a footballer.

Elliott could return to Liverpool next summer a better and more all-rounded player and could push for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup.
