Lee Hendrie said on Sky Sports Football (12:25pm, April 10, 2021) that Leeds United should make Jack Harrison’s loan deal permanent from Manchester City.
Harrison is now in his third year on loan at Leeds from City and has been superb for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
The Athletic reported in February 2021 that City are ‘poised to sell’ the winger to the Whites in the summer of 2021 for £11 million.
Former Aston Villa midfielder Hendrie, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that Leeds should make the 24-year-old’s loan deal permanent, and raved about the Englishman, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder.
Hendrie said about Leeds signing Harrison permanently on Sky Sports Football (12:25pm, April 10, 2021): “100% yeah. I would. 100%. I think he is a player that has stood out for me. I had seen a bit of him in the Championship. I mean he is one of them players who has certainly a great attacking threat.
“He wouldn’t get into the City side. That’s the big question mark, isn’t it? For £10 million… If I had £10 million, I would buy him and have him in my over-35s side for sure.”
Permanent Leeds United transfer?
Harrison is unlikely to break into the City team. Manager Pep Guardiola has some of the best players in the world, and it is going to be extremely hard for the 24-year-old to establish himself at the Citizens.
The winger has progressed and developed a lot under Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa and is a regular in the team when he is fit and available.
It would make sense for Harrison’s career to make his loan deal at Leeds permanent and continue to work with Bielsa.
According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old has scored seven goals and provided five assists in the Premier League so far this season, and scored six goals and gave eight assists in the league in 2019-20.
Meanwhile, former Leeds striker Noel Whelan noted on Saturday that winger Raphinha did not look very happy after being substituted towards the end of the 2-1 win against City.
Yes [he looked] very, very angry [at the end]”, Whelan said after the game on BBC Radio Leeds, as transcribed by InsideFutbol.
“I’m not sure, but he did have something to say about the assistant manager when he walked past and he put his arm on him; he shrugged it away and then came back and kicked something as he sat down.
“He had that look on his face of being very annoyed and angry at something. Clearly not happy. don’t think it was just the challenge, something was maybe said on maybe the substitution, but we will need to find out more about that.”
