Paul Merson suggested on Sky Sports News (1:43pm, November 7, 2020) that Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho should include Gareth Bale in his starting lineup against West Bromwich Albion.

Tottenham will take on West Brom away from home at The Hawthorns in the Premier League today.

Ahead of the match, former Arsenal star Merson said that Mourinho should start Bale.

Merson said on Sky Sports News (1:43pm, November 7, 2020) when asked if he would start Bale: “Yeah, I would, I would. I think he needs match fitness as well.”

Should Gareth Bale start for Tottenham Hotspur today?

Bale has been gradually building up his match fitness and played well for Tottenham in their past two competitive matches.

The winger, who returned to Spurs on loan from Spanish and European giants Real Madrid in the summer of 2020, came on as a substitute and scored the winner against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League last weekend.

Then on Thursday evening, the 31-year-old started the Europa League match against Ludogorets Razgrad and played well.

According to WhoScored, Bale has made two substitute appearances in the Premier League and has started all three Europa League games for Spurs so far this season.

It would make sense for Mourinho to start Bale against a side who are set to fight for relegation.
